Vacations - Philippines.

If you have never been to the Philippines you may be wondering what it is about Puerto Galera, where our resort is, which makes it popular with people all over the world for a vacation.

A recent survey of people coming on Philippines vacations, discovered that once someone has been here on vacation to scuba dive or snorkel, they will return on average ten times.

The pictures at the foot of this page may help to explain, but here are just a few of the reasons people come here on vacation.

Weather.

Unlike most places the Philippines only has two seasons. Wet and Dry. The dry season generally begins in November and lasts until April. The interesting thing though is that on the island of Mindoro, which is where we are, even in the Wet season the vast majority of rainfall happens at night, so we are open and thriving all year round.

Swimming and diving.

Warmed by warm currents from the Pacific the water temperature here is a constant 25C to 27C, almost a warm bath and the visibility varies but 30 to 40 meters underwater is the norm.

Marine life and Corals.

The El Galleon resort is in the middle of a large fish sanctuary created by the Philippines Government some twenty years ago and we boast more varieties of fish than you will find in the whole of the Red Sea. Then we come to corals and it may surprise you to learn that here at out resort we actually have more varieties of hard and soft corals than the Great Barrier Reef.

We offer quiet luxury in the resort hotel where you can pick from independent cottages built into the palmed hillside to a room adjoining our private pool. At the end of the day you may wish to join us in the Point Bar where everyone discusses the diving or the days events.

We would not dream of hemming you in on your vacation. There will be times when you fancy a change and literally 5 minutes walk along the beach will bring you to the small town of Sabang. There you will find just about every kind of nightlife from bars to discos, as well as many restaurants serving a very wide variety of foods.

Asia Divers The majority of our guests love to scuba dive and many want to improve their qualifications or simply use their vacation to learn to dive.

Asia Divers is part of the El Galleon resort and will hire you the equipment for a very modest rate. We will take you to the dive sites of your choice and within 10 minutes of the resort by boat, you can be experiencing a very wide range of dives from the Shark Canyons to cave diving to drift dives.

We all so train on and provide a wide range of gas mixes for diving including Trimix, Nitrox, re-breathers etc. as well as regular air.

As a family resort we know that vacations can be made or marred by how your children enjoy themselves. Children as young as eight can learn our sport under the guidance of highly qualified teachers by doing the 'Bubblemakers' course and from age ten they can do the open water course.

We are one of the top diving schools in the entire Philippines being one of only two certified by PADI to train to Instructor level.
