The Glam Glitter Girls, aka Dive Divas, (Veronique Ficheux, Sheila Cooke, Alli and Kimberly Nelson) bundled up and went diving at Dry Dock in 21 C – minus our last member who is warming up in Africa! Missing Stephanie Scawen! Drinks and a Birthday cake were needed to recover
Alan Beebe and “the Candy Man”, Arjan Kroon have been whipped into shape by Alli on their Rescue course with the very helpful and thankfully not so big victim, Ryan Beebe.
Nice to see familiar faces back with us again, Arjan Kroon (The Candy Man) and John Robson. Also, happy to have Pat and Jim Stayer from the U.S. here with us this week. They’ve been busy doing a lot of filming and enjoying the Puerto Galera and Anilao diving.
Sabine is back for the CNY holiday.
Valentine’s Day in the Philippines is a big deal and we made sure we were all decked out for the occasion. Our Special Valentines dinner was very popular for all the happy couples. Now the CYN holiday has just started and the resort is starting to get pretty full. We’ve got lots of folks from China as well as those who live in Asia coming here and taking advantage of this nicely timed holiday. I bet Every PADI Pro can remember their first dive. Albert Van Zuijlen and Gerard Kemmatook tried SCUBA for the first time with long time friend of Asia Divers Huub Keultjes. February in P.G. is much nicer than February in most parts of the planet and by all the smiles on peoples’ faces around here they all know it. We have a group from Germany who have been here for about a week now plus a lot of familiar faces such as Janne Bjork, Rene Sten, Per Engual, Huub Keultjes, Noboru Suzuki, Karwena Ng, Rebecca Lin, David Coller, Arjan Kroon all beating the February blues! Ocean Dive Supply had their annual Staff meeting, where the staff from Alona, Boracay, Cebu, Dumaguete, Manila and Puerto Galera met up on Alona Beach for meeting, seminar and social over the weekend. It finished off with a trip to the Chocolate Hills.
What a fantastic week of critter finding it’s has been with the Critterfest Group from the USA. Mike Bartick from Crystal Blue brought the group over for a week of fun, but it was not just the critters that were around, they had a great sighting of a Thresher Shark and 4 awesome dives at Verde Island where the very elusive Coral Cat Shark was sighted.
It’s that time of year again where the water gets a little chilly and the Thresher’s come out to play. Over the past 5 years it has continued to get better and better for sighting Thresher Sharks here at Puerto Galera especially during the months from December to April when the water is a little cooler.
On Saturday Jamie led a dive to Kilima where there is a cleaning station and saw 3 Threshers all at once wow! Malapascua eat your heart out!
