Look whose back in town, the amazing Rhinopia. After getting a tip from down the beach Jamie and few divers went out to search for this amazing fish. What luck they had not only did they come across it but Video Rob was on the dive and got some great video footage.

Congratulations to all the winners of the HUGYCUP photo competition which was held here over a two month period from Feb to April. It was great to see the results of the competition and it’s a wonderful showcase for Puerto Galera’s amazing marine biodiversity.
A special congratulations to LUC EECKHAUT Winner of the HUGYCUP 2014/2015 (Series of 10 pictures – best macro photo – best fish portrait photo– best nudibranch or seashell photo – best wide angle), Best result in 5 categories.
Here are some more of the winning photos. You can see them all at: http://2014.hugycup.com/
Congratulations to Gareth Bowen who cleaned up in the compact category. He got best compact camera photographer (Series of 3 pictures – compact macro – compact fish portrait)
Gino Symus from Belgium has returned for more photography dives. He came here earlier in the year to participate in the HUGYCUP photo competition. Gino can be seen above with his two SLR cameras, one for macro and one for wide angle so he never misses a beat. You would think with all that gear that buoyancy control would be a big problem, but Gino mages it with ease, being very careful not to put even a fin on the reef. A true master and inspiration to all photographers out there! You can see some of his photos on http://2014.hugycup.com/
Love this Facebook posting from yesterday! Yes…it really exists…The other DM’s and instructors here have been sighting the threshers quite often over the past couple years, but Alli seemed to have no luck at all, until yesterday when she finally saw it and saw it up close. So today she goes out again to Kilima and sees a totally different thresher! WOW!!!
It’s been a fun time again having Peter Zheng back with another group of excited students. This time there were 9 students doing OW, AOW and some doing nitrox as well, plus six fun-divers. Peter was a very busy man! Alli and Troy tagged along to help out with the group and keep things running smooth. Congratulations to all the new divers and thanks to Peter for coming back! Celebration time for Peter’s group. What to do when the rain makes us have to finish dinner inside the restaurant?? Do some table dancing of course!
Congratulations to Fang Pei Chen who at the young age of 65 earned his OW and AOW certification!
It’s been a fun week having this gang from Hong Kong diving with us. In this group are families and friends who have known each other for many years. They decided to come here so some can learn to dive, with their friend Bruce Shu who is not only a friend, but also an PADI instructor. Puerto Galera is a much nicer environment to do training dives for sure and the best part is being able to continue on with fun dives after the training. Congratulations to Joanne Leung, Joe Lee, Mandy Lee, Michael Kwan, and Joey Lee for becoming PADI Open Water divers and to Long Long Turner and Joe Lee who did their PADI Advanced course dives here. Besides the fun underwater we sure enjoyed the fun above water and especially a great dinner shared by all. Thanks so much to Adrienne Ng who put it all together!
A very special mention goes to Yvonne Kwan who “let go of the boat!” and was able to enjoy the snorkeling for the first time. Also to Vincent Lee who had a great time here watching all the action.
