Well done to Alma Moreno, our super El Galleon waitress for completing her PADI Advanced Open Water course care of Instructor Matt Hubbal. Alma Chose Search and Recovery, Digital Photo and Nitrox as her elective dives.
Smartie has been the heart and soul of quite a few shindigs in the Point bar over the last few weeks, and Saturday was no exception. There was plenty of beer and pizza for all at his DM party. Smartie has done a great job on his internship, and even though it had technically finished some days ago, he’s carried on helping out! Well Done Mate!
We’re thrilled that Wolfgang Krueger specifically came down this weekend to do his 700th dive with us…and what a dive it was. He spent it on Verde Island and the frogfish came out to play!
Wolfgang’s first dive with Asia Divers was 28 September 2002 to Shark Cave and it was only his 21st dive altogether in his dive career. He’s come a long way since then, and thankfully, a lot of it was with us! To date he’s now got 263 dives in PG, including some Milestone/new t-shirt dives in which were celebrated at the Point in fine style including numbers 50, 200, 300, 500, 600 and 700. Wolfgang has also joined some of our overseas live-aboard trips which included 23 dives in Cocos Island in April 2012, 29 dives in Komodo and Sumbawa for a total of 315 dives with us. His most memorable dive was a bit difficult to choose as he’s had many memorable dives but one of his favorite sites is Oodies because he’s never encountered another group of divers there and it’s a bit difficult to find for most people. Thanks for your support over the years and we look forward to many more dives with you!
Congratulations to Brian Moh whom has just passed his PADI Divemaster course with us. Brian is a professional photographer from Malaysia with a strong passion for diving. He wanted to gain lots of new experience on the sport that he loves to do and he wanted to experience it in a different country. Alli met Brian at the dive show in KL and things were quickly put in place for Brian to spend a month here in Puerto Galera doing his Rescue and Divemaster courses. Continue reading
Wonderful to have Thoumire family back with us again! We sure miss seeing them often like we used to when they were living in Manila, but it’s great that they can get back here at least once a year. Congratulations to Amalia for earning her Advanced citification with Alli on this trip and to both Rapheah and Amalia for getting their Nitrox with Jamie. JC tried not to do too much work and just enjoy the time underwater.
The Bubblemaker course is a fantastic way for kids to try a closely supervised scuba diving experience in the swimming pool for their first try. They get to try out the equipment, swim around and play games. The very cool thing about this experience is that it’s also possible for them to do follow-up dives in the ocean to a maximum depth of 2 meters. They will go out with an instructor and get to “find Nemo” for real! This opportunity offers kids a great introduction to diving and most KIDS LOVE IT!
Miumiu’s nephew Sean Woo loved his Bubblemaker experience with Andy
