“Coexist”

The story: “ On the Red Sea we awoke each day at 4-5 AM for a full day of diving. On this day in particular, it was the first dive, and it was our friend Tim’s 1000th dive. We boarded the Zodiac to access a dive site on the North Wall of Daedalus Reef, and after a speedy negative entry, we found ourselves descending right on top of an 18ft juvenile Whaleshark. No one was expecting this, and we watched in excitement as it swam by. The encounter was loud with the sounds of divers cheering through their regulators while the Whaleshark navigated our bubbles. At this time he turned back and swam directly towards me, and I suddenly found myself distanced from the commotion of the group. There was a moment frozen in time – an unobstructed view of the Whaleshark and our dive guide gliding silently through the water, side by side, coexisting. I reminded myself to pull the trigger, and this will remain one of the most special dives and photographs I have had the fortune to experience.”

Location:  Daedalus Reef – North wall. Red Sea, Egypt
Camera:  Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 8-15mm Fisheye @ 15mm, Ikelite Housing, ambient light

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

dec15d1

With the sun shining brightly, everyone here has been having a fine time celebrating the season. Santa and his elves arrived at El Galleon on the 24rd and delivered heaps of toys to the local kids for the 26th year in a row! Christmas dinner at El Galleon was a delicious feast by Antoine and the crew, and now the kitchen is starting to get things rolling for the New Years dinner. Wishing everyone a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year…and hope to see you here soon!

Sha Tin College Special Feature

nov15f10

After 6 years we were thrilled to have Sha Tin College from Hong Kong back with us! it was a fantastic week for the group of 51 who took part in diving and activities in Puerto Galera. In the group we had 30 new Open Water divers, 4 Advanced divers and 4 Night Specialty Divers, while we had another group of kids doing activities such as sailing, and visits to Extreme Sports and the zip line.  The whole gang  also went on a sunset cruise to enjoy pizza at Talipanan, spent a day on Verde Island visiting a local school and having a beach BBQ and then we had a fun send-off on the platform with a cultural dance performance, fire dancers and a great rockin band!

In the US

nov15c2 Allan and Alli have returned from DEMA in Orlando Florida. It was great to catch up with business partners, friends, colleges and connecting with others in the diving industry who share the same passion and understanding as we do. We hope to see more divers from the U.S. heading our way soon!

nov15c3Now it was time for a bit of fun! Allan and Alli did a side trip in the U.S. to visit Ken Knezick from Island Dreams Travel at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Ken and his multi-talented group perform at the Agora, Gypsy Dance Theater four times a day every Saturday and Sunday for two months and we just happen to time our trip right for  this. What an amazing group of people who continued to impress us throughout our whole time there with their talent and kindness.

The last part of the U.S. tour included a stop in Houston to spend a couple days with Ken and Eva and Tina (whom we also work with from Island Dreams Travel) and her husband, Bob. Thank you to everyone for showing us such wonderfully kind hospitality in your neck of the woods
