We had a great experience learning and training with Sabine and your staff over the last week. My family completed their OWD certification at Exotic in Malapascua earlier this year and we felt the instructor at Exotic was good. I couldn’t complete my training then because I didn’t have the necessary medical release so I waited until this week to gain my OWD certification at Asia Divers.
After spending some time with Sabine, we quickly realized my learning experience would be much better. I work with numerous accomplished trainers in my profession but I believe you have something special with the environment at Asia Divers and in particular with Sabine. She seems to have the perfect combination of deep knowledge, patience, positive attitude, solid expectation, marine conservationist and infectious passion about all things diving. It was a real pleasure training under Sabine. You’ll be happy to know we’re already talking about our next trip to Asia Divers, likely during my son’s spring break holiday.
Please share our appreciation with Sabine and team for a great week of training and diving. The experience clearly exceeded our expectations.
From the start, Asia divers handled or transfers from Manila and back-great job, We arrived at El Galleon around 3 pm in the afternoon, and welcome drink awaited. I had an ocean front room 16, great views with outside patio and chairs. About 70 steps from the main level. Room includes walk in closet, queen bed and bathroom. A/c and ceiling fan worked well. The food was plentyful and good. Asia divers, on site for dive operations. Thanks to Rubin and Vince our dive masters. We had 4 single tank dives each day, and 2 days to Verde. Great job guys. Also thanks to Warren for all your help around the dive shop.
I just returned from an exceptional dive trip to El Galleon with 18 divers. BEST DIVE TRIP EVER....and I have been on many. These guys know how to do it right! The service is incredible...from the dive operation (Asia Divers) to the kitchen staff and administration. They made everything easy, the food great and the dive operation made sure everyone and everything was well taken care of...I just loved the place and the people! Can't go wrong with this one. Did I mention that the views are incredible also??
I went diving in Puerto Galera Island and stayed at El Galleon which is associated with the Asia Diver diving shop. Everything is perfect: room (not luxury but clean), food, deck, close distance to the diving shop, etc.
There is nothing I would complain about. Staff were very friendly. I enjoyed moments of sitting at a table outside of the restaurant of the hotel watching sunrise sipping red horse smoking a cigar....
I have been fortunate to have visited PG for dive holidays many times, and I will keep going back as it continues to improve year after year. The staff are highly efficient, whether you are diving, or in the bar, or having dinner, your every request is met with a warm smile and a no problem Sir. Leaving is the most difficult part of the trip, and often delayed to enjoy the place more. The diving is second to none, with around 30 dive sites to explore, and the highly trained staff (many of whom have been there over 20 plus years) become great friends as well as proficient dive instructors.
Truthfully, try it if you are a diver, and truly you will love it !
Our second trip to El Galleon and Asia divers finds it everything it was on our first trip...diving was great...room was spacious and clean...food was plentiful and beyond awesome ...we did the full board meal plan...its a lot of food if you order all you are entitled to - our next trip will not be "full board" rather a-la-carte.
Water temp was 77-81 during our two week stay...we like the banka boats for diving over the speed board but that is a nit....vis was cloudy but you are there for the smaller reef stuff like nudibranchs.
will we go back?..yuppers....trip already booked for next spring...
over all value is fantastic at ElGalleon...
Me and my boyfriend stayed at El Galleon for a week to do some diving. It was our first time to the Philippines and found this place via TripAdvisor/Google. The rooms were clean and spacious (a little squeaky though, but no bother), they had a nice size closet and in-room safe for your valuables, a decent bathroom and the a/c worked well..though I preferred the fan in the room. We met so many wonderful people from the hotel staff, bar staff to the dive staff to some of the locals diving on the boat. Awesome dives lead by Ruben, Maria, Jamie and Elly..hats off to you guys for pointing out things that I thought were grass!! It was an overall AMAZING time we had in Puerto Galera and one hotel I can definitely recommend. The food was great, the staff were soooo friendly and welcoming and the dives were fantastic! I can’t wait to start planning a trip for 2019!
I stayed there for 2 weeks last winter, and very good choice, first time in Phillipines and loved it!This is a good area to stay around -not too many people,in this beach area night clubs and bars ,are within walking, also a few good breakfast resturants right on the beach! much more quiet than Sabang
We bought a summer discount package for 2 people via PADI Travel at El Galleon end July/early August for 6 nights, inc. breakfasts, 10 dives each with all dive equipment, including dive computers. Had an amazing time and are planning to return. Off-season may not be everyone's favourite time but we thought it was excellent: The hotel and restaurant were quiet, service was superb (food very good too - baby clams pasta and mango juice were irresistible...) - thanks to the chef and friendly waiting staff; and the diving groups were small and personalised. Weather held up well too! Thanks to all at Asia Divers for excellent dives. Pete gave us our refresher in the hotel pool (we were v rusty AOW divers...) and a first dive (Sabang Bay) - he was a terrific dive guide - just the right mix of professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Thanks for everything, Pete! Thanks too to Ellie and Maria for some very memorable dives (at least 2 in the company of world experts on nudibranchs). We'd recommend our room - a Sea View one - 77 steps to reach it - totally worth the climb for that view of Sabang bay - and kept us fit. Our room (17) was functional and spacious - we really liked the balcony (needed repellent for the mosquitoes though...). El Galleon is a fab location for divers - Asia Divers is excellent (PADI 5 Star) and a 2 min walk along the front from El Galleon's restaurant (also on the front - it's wonderful for people-watching as well as for sea views with a welcome breeze). Just far enough from town to be away from the nightclub noise, but close enough for a 5-10 minute stroll along the front to local restaurants and grocery stores. We were glad to have included breakfasts in our package but not lunches or dinners, as we enjoyed a number of local eateries during our week. We also booked El Galleon's private transfers to and from Manila airport - not cheap but for a 2 hour drive plus 1 hour boat ride they seemed reasonable value for money and we would probably book again. Finally it's worth saying that Puerto Galera as a diving location is simply fantastic for corals, macro (those nudibranchs are exquisite...) and drift dives. We had wonderfully varied dive sites - all within a 15 minute speedboat ride from El Galleon (and a couple are only 3 mins away).
I have stayed here many times and keep coming back as do many of their guests. I kid you not that every staff member will call you by name and will remember you no matter how long you stay away. A lot of interesting characters about so there never seems to be a dull moment. You can relax in the restaurant when not diving and in the evenings at the point bar or on the water at the barrel. The point bar and now the barrel are great for sunsets and tipping back a few cold ones. Both are popular with local expats and guests from other resorts so El Galleon guests do not have to venture very far. There are many diving operations along the beach but none with setup they have. The spacious dive locker room and platform make diving here more comfortable and pleasurable. A very friendly and professional diving crew from the instructors to the boatmen and tankboys. About the food, I stayed for almost 10 days this time and the food was great throughout. I did not have everything on the menu but I tried something different each time and was not disappointed ever. The quality and value of food here is hard to beat but I do recommend venturing out to try food elsewhere as it is nice to get a change of scenery. Just ask any of the staff or you fellow divers and I sure they will give you some advice.
